Procor Limited manages Canada’s largest private tank car lease fleet and operates an extensive repair network across the country. The fleet has grown to include more than 30,500 special purpose tank and freight cars. Procor also operates 27 repair locations servicing the petroleum, petrochemicals, plastics, chemicals, fertilizers and food markets.

In pursuit of this journey, Procor is currently seeking a Car Repairman/Welder to join our Regina, Saskatchewan location.

The normal hours of work will be Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Please be advised that schedules may change as business requirements dictate.

The starting hourly rate for this role is $ 32.33.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Cut, fit, and repair railcars, their components, and other items as necessary to facilitate railcar repair.

  • Aid other team members as necessary to facilitate railcar repair and productivity.

  • Perform all necessary AAR repairs to railcars including cutting, straightening, cleaning, blasting, and car repair.

  • Perform and document quality control checks as required by Company quality standards.

  • Perform basic P.M. checks on used equipment.

  • Comply with company and regulatory safety and environmental standards.

  • Meet production schedules.

  • Appropriately wear and utilize all of the following types of safety equipment in accordance with EHS instruction and requirements: Respirators (full and half face), hearing protection, eye protection, steel toed boots, and fall protection.

  • Additional related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 1+ months experience using Mig Welding (FCAW).

  • Must be mechanically inclined and able to operate the needed tools for the position.

  • Must be able to read and understand written work orders and material safety data sheets.

  • Must be able to pass an in-house weld test.

  • Must be able to work in an environment with continuous exposure to outdoor weather conditions with dust, fumes, and noise. Must be able to climb, stoop, and bend repeatedly, carry hand and power tools.

  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and heights of 15 feet.

  • Must pass company physical including pulmonary function, chest and back x-rays.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and eligible to work in Canada.

  • Willingness to comply with pre-employment screening, reference verification, and background check.

Preferred:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.

  • Previous experience with railcar construction or general steel work.

  • Pre-Employment Welding Course.

  • Blueprint reading.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near a shop or yard where moving mechanical parts are present

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

Welding skills and WHMIS training would be an asset. Effective communication and organizational skills, strong initiative and ability to work well under pressure are also desirable
