Job Overview:

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.  

 

We are looking for a part-time Cannery Inventory Specialist to play a critical role in supporting the cannery production process by managing raw materials, packaging components, and ingredients. This role will be responsible for ensuring a smooth flow of materials for canning manufacturing operations, coordinates shipping and receiving of trucks, and helps maintain accurate production records at our Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA. This is a part-time position (full-time during pack season, July – October, and when running production off season; part-time the rest of the year).

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Promote a positive food safety culture by prioritizing and paying close attention to good manufacturing and best practices for food safety; always Promote Food Safety Culture as a priority in all situations through conversations, communications and actions.
  • Coordinate shipping schedules to satisfy production demand while maintaining reasonable inventory levels.
  • Receive and verify production component shipments.
  • Label incoming components and assign storage locations in the warehouse.
  • Direct staging of inventory based on production demand.

 

Requirements: 

  • At least 1 year of experience in inventory, shipping/receiving, or food manufacturing support; basic knowledge of canning processing is beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use inventory tracking systems or Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English, English/Spanish language preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, and to work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early November. 

 

Compensation:

The wage range is $23.00 - $26.00, based on experience and qualifications.
