**POSITION SUMMARY

**

JWC Machine and Fab is seeking a CAD Designer or Drafter to support our engineering and production team. This role bridges the gap between customer requirements and the shop floor — creating, reviewing, and managing technical drawings and models that our machinists rely on to produce precision components. The position is well-suited for candidates ranging from detail drafters to experienced mechanical designers; responsibility and compensation will align with demonstrated capability.

**RESPONSIBILITIES

**

• Create and revise 2D engineering drawings and/or 3D models from customer specifications, sketches, or verbal requirements

• Ensure drawings include correct GD&T callouts, tolerances, material specifications, and surface finish requirements

• Review incoming customer drawings for manufacturability and flag concerns before production begins

• Maintain organized drawing libraries and revision control in accordance with shop documentation standards

• Collaborate closely with machinists and supervisors to resolve interpretation questions on the floor

• Support quoting activities by providing accurate drawing interpretations and dimensional analysis

• Assist with process documentation, work instructions, and job traveler creation as needed

**QUALIFICATIONS

**

• Proficiency in CAD software — SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or equivalent

• Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and engineering drawing interpretation

• Experience creating drawings for machined parts preferred; castings and weldments a plus

• Understanding of manufacturing processes — how parts are actually made — is a significant advantage

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered

• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple drawing packages simultaneously

• Effective communicator — comfortable working directly with machinists and customers alike
