About the Role:

In this role, you will perform critical cable testing, and maintenance work to support electrical submersible pump (ESP) operations and related field equipment. You will ensure cable integrity and performance through precise testing, spooling, repair, and splicing, helping minimise downtime and maintain operational safety. Working on a Day Shift schedule, you will collaborate closely with field and shop teams to deliver high-quality, reliable cable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

* Perform ESP cable spooling, unspooling, and handling operations in accordance with company procedures and safety standards.

* Conduct cable testing and certification using appropriate test equipment to verify integrity, insulation resistance, and performance.

* Diagnose cable faults and damage, and carry out repairs and splicing to restore functionality and reliability.

* Prepare, terminate, and connect cables to equipment, junction boxes, and terminations as required for field or shop operations.

* Maintain accurate records of cable tests, certifications, repairs, and splicing activities for traceability and quality control.

* Inspect cables, reels, and related equipment, identifying wear or damage and reporting issues promptly.

* Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing cable reels, tools, and materials to support efficient Day Shift operations.

* Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and company policies while working with electrical cables and equipment.

Key Requirements:

* Proven experience as a Cable Technician, Cable Spooling Technician, or similar role in an industrial, oilfield, or energy environment.

* Hands-on experience using cable testing and certification equipment (e.g., megohm meters, hipot testers, or similar).

* Demonstrated competency in ESP cable handling, spooling, and unspooling in shop or field conditions.

* Strong practical skills in cable repair and splicing, including working with various cable sizes and constructions.

* Ability to read and follow work instructions, job tickets, and basic technical documentation.

* Comfortable working on a consistent Day Shift schedule in an Odessa, TX-based operation.

* Solid safety awareness and adherence to safe work practices around electrical and mechanical equipment.

* Physical ability to lift, move, and handle cable reels and related equipment as required.

Desirable Skills:

* Previous experience working specifically with ESP cable systems in oil and gas applications.

* Familiarity with oilfield service operations, rig-up/rig-down processes, or downhole equipment.

* Basic troubleshooting skills for electrical issues related to cable performance.

* Experience maintaining test equipment and documenting calibration or inspection status.

* Forklift operation or material handling experience in a shop or yard environment.

Qualifications:

* High school diploma or GED required.

* Technical or vocational training in electrical, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred.

* Relevant industry or safety certifications (e.g., electrical safety, OSHA, H2S) preferred.

* Valid driver’s license with a record suitable for site and yard access preferred.
