What You Will Accomplish:

As the Service Technician, you will provide technical support on installations, technical resolution, and product training to meet or exceed the needs of the customers.  

What You Will Do:

  • Assists with the installation of new projects throughout North America to ensure an efficient process that is aligned to the scope of the project.  
  • Handles the equipment training of new and current products with the customers to ensure they can operate the equipment effectively.
  • Validates and tests new equipment, through PLC programming edits, providing feedback on issues found to the management team.
  • Trouble-shoots equipment issues onsite, through remote dial-in analysis, or visiting the customer’s location to resolve issues as efficiently as possible with minimal interruption.
  • Liaisons with Corporate in Denmark, as needed, to assist with more complex installations and troubleshooting to expedite the process.
  • Provides information and executes service contracts and sells new parts to customers to increase revenue potential for the business. 
  • Assists in other areas of the business, as needed, to ensure the customer’s needs are met.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Associates degree in an Electrical or Electronics field preferred; or high school diploma with great technical and electrical service background.
  • Experience: 3+ years of progressive experience with troubleshooting electrical and mechanical equipment, within a systems integration environment involving configuration, design, and installation activities; preferably in the food processing or similar processing industry.  Direct experience with editing/troubleshooting PLC’s (typically Omron, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc. following program or ladder diagrams), Frequency Converters, and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s) required.
  • Certification(s): n/a
  • Functional Skills: Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude; Expertise in planning and integrating technology in the middle of a production process.  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required to handle obstacles quickly.  Requires a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Will drive a company pick-up truck.
  • Technology Aptitude/Skills: Experienced with PLC programming, analysis, and editing programs. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word.
  • Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present and train customers on existing and new products. Ability to speak Spanish would be a plus.
  • Leadership/Behaviors: Demonstrates a high customer-service and support personality who has a strength in educating others; forward thinking and resourceful to handle obstacles quickly; works well independently and with a team to collaborate on best practices.  Excellent ability to listen and influence customers towards new systems, services, parts, and products.

Other Important Information:     

Salary: Salary is commensurate with proven experience

Reports To:  VP of Sales & Service

Core Hours:  7:00am-6:00pm; will work approximately 45 hours within this time frame

Typical Work Week:  M-F; Weekends as needed

Work Conditions:  Typically, in a manufacturing environment around machinery, water, and food/meat processing.  Climbing heights up to 15 – 20 feet is also required.

Travel: 50% overnight travel on average
