Job Overview:

Cabinet Finisher / HPL Laminator

Full-Time | Immediate Opening

Breakthrough Productions is looking for an experienced Cabinet Finisher / HPL Laminator to join our fabrication team.

This is a hands-on shop position focused on the finishing and laminating of custom cabinetry, countertops, displays, exhibits, and experiential builds.

We are specifically looking for someone with experience working with High-Pressure Laminate (HPL) products such as Wilsonart, Formica, or similar architectural laminates. This is traditional cabinet and countertop laminating—not carbon fiber, fiberglass, or composite-material lamination.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Apply HPL laminate to cabinets, countertops, panels, displays, and custom fabricated components
  • Properly prepare substrates for laminate installation
  • Cut, apply, trim, file, and finish laminate accurately and cleanly
  • Produce clean seams, corners, edges, and finished surfaces
  • Read and work from shop drawings, measurements, and build plans
  • Patch, fill, sand, and prepare fabricated components for finishing
  • Perform painting and finishing using primarily latex and acrylic coatings
  • Inspect finished pieces for quality before they move to final assembly
  • Work with the fabrication and production teams to keep projects moving on schedule
  • Help identify finishing or fabrication issues before they become larger problems
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient finishing work area
  • Assist with solid-surface fabrication when applicable

What We're Looking For

Ideal candidates will have:

  • 3+ years of experience in cabinet fabrication, cabinet finishing, countertop fabrication, or a similar trade
  • Hands-on experience applying Wilsonart, Formica, or comparable HPL products
  • Experience using contact adhesive and standard laminate application techniques
  • Ability to use laminate trimmers, routers, files, sanders, and common woodworking tools
  • Strong understanding of surface preparation and finishing
  • Ability to produce clean, professional-quality finished work
  • Ability to read measurements and basic shop drawings
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while also being part of a production team

Experience with Corian or other solid-surface materials is a plus but not required.

Who This Position Is For

This could be a great fit for someone coming from a:

  • Cabinet or millwork shop
  • Countertop fabrication shop
  • Commercial casework company
  • Architectural millwork company
  • Exhibit or tradeshow fabrication shop
  • Scenic fabrication shop
  • Finish carpentry background with significant laminate experience

We're less concerned with whether you've worked in the experiential-event industry before and more concerned with whether you know how to finish cabinets and laminate correctly, efficiently, and consistently.

Unlike a traditional cabinet shop where you may build the same products repeatedly, our projects constantly change. One week you might be finishing cabinetry, the next a tradeshow exhibit, retail display, branded environment, or custom event activation.

What Success Looks Like

You take ownership of the finished quality of the products that leave your department.

That means surfaces are properly prepared, laminate is installed cleanly, paint and finishes meet expectations, drawings are followed, and problems are identified before the project moves into final assembly.

We want someone who takes pride in being able to look at a finished piece and say:

"That's ready to go to the client."

You should be proficient in:

  • Cabinet Installation
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Environment
  • cabinet lamination
  • countertop fabrication
  • painting
  • sanding
  • surface prep
