Buyer / Planner

Description

MI Windows and Doors is one of the nation’s largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country.  We are looking for a Buyer / Planner to join our Gratz Plant.  In this role you will procure optimal levels of materials and services needed to meet production requirements / customer demand with minimal inventory investment by the company.

  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Plan and procure materials and services for assigned commodities acting as a representative of MI Windows & Doors with our vendor base, balancing keeping adequate supply with maximizing inventory turns
  • Interprets data relative to material usage to optimize investment in material inventory while maximizing service to the customer 
  • Monitors and/or plans for changing inventory requirements through participation in the company Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process
  • Effectively interfaces with suppliers to issue purchase orders on a timely basis
  • Expedites and defers the delivery of purchased items to meet delivery schedules 
  • Reviews purchase requisitions for proper authorization levels and other required data
  • Obtains quotes from suppliers and assists in negotiating the most cost-effective solutions for MIWD considering TAC (Total Acquisition Costs)
  • Maintains supply chain related data and reports
  • Communicates with production and receiving staff to monitor the status of incoming goods

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Business, Supply Chain Management or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education to successfully perform the essential functions of the position
  • 0-3 years of experience planning or buying in a high-volume manufacturing facility
  • Knowledge and ability to deploy APICS, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, and Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively motivate team members and others with diverse backgrounds   
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Software and DataWorks or other operating systems as required
  • Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills
