Job Overview:


Under general supervision procures products, materials, and services to ensure adequate stock to meet sales demands. Maintains on-going relationships with suppliers by securing bids and placing purchase orders. Expedites orders to meet production and/or customer needs.


1.Purchases specifically assigned products by contacting vendors to obtain information concerning product, price, availability, and delivery date.

2.Negotiates prices and terms with vendors/suppliers within budgetary limitations and scope of authority following company purchasing policies and procedures.

3.Implements inventory control strategies as set forth by the company, including management of inventory turns, GM/ROI by major product lines, and physical inventory requirements.

4.Conducts competitive price comparisons by keeping abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise.

5.Identifies overstock items and looks for ways to reduce quantities that are beneficial to the company.

6.Communicates regularly with Sales Team to identify correct materials are needed.

7.Negotiates settlements on rejected or defective items.

8.Assists sales department with location of specialty items, price, and availability of products, freight/carrier information, order status, and timely processing of orders.

9.Provides feedback on pricing of items based on established pricing strategies.

10.Responsible for inventory replenishment duties by monitoring inventory levels and generating purchase orders in accordance with replenishment guidelines.

11.Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.

12.Maintain Non-Stock materials list.

13.Process inventory/production work orders and ensure correct materials are being utilized.

15.Other duties may be assigned.
