Job Title

Buyer II

Responsible for the purchasing activities of an assigned plant or commodity, including but not limited to raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and services. Through effective supplier management, this position ensures cost control and the timely delivery of quality products. The Buyer II leads site-level cost and risk reduction initiatives through effective sourcing and project management.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for issuing and managing purchase orders, ensuring adherence with CoorsTek policy, ethical standards, and compliance requirements.
• Ensure timely delivery by proactively working with suppliers to confirm POs, obtain progress updates, coordinate logistics, and expedite or escalate as needed.
• Resolve discrepancies between the invoice, PO, and receiving documents, and work with quality on rejected items to facilitate corrective actions with the supplier.
• Categorize spend data and analyze procurement information to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights. Capable of making informed recommendations, generating reports, and proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP software.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including vendor dependency, price volatility, and potential supply disruptions. Support the site-level annual risk assessment process.
• Build and maintain strong relationships and manage supplier performance related to quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness, and lead time. Lead supplier performance discussions and corrective actions when expectations are not met.
• Attend weekly Tier meeting and report out on current supply chain projects, current supplies, repairs & maintenance, and freight spend/budgets for the given month and quarter.
• Lead site or commodity-level sourcing projects. Utilize market data, cross-functional stakeholder input, and formal RFx processes to select the best supplier in terms of capability and total cost of ownership.
• Negotiate pricing agreements for items and services and ensure broader supply agreements are adhered to at the local site.
• Proactively identify and recommend process improvements that enhance procurement efficiency, strengthen purchasing controls, reduce transactional workload, and improve the internal stakeholder experience.
• Continuously monitor market conditions, supplier capacity, commodity trends, pricing fluctuations, and potential price increases. Assess potential business impacts and proactively recommend appropriate sourcing, negotiation, or risk mitigation strategies.
• Lead cross functional project teams at the site-level to execute cost savings initiatives, including cost savings idea generation, data analysis, supplier negotiations and project management.

Job Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, purchasing, or equivalent.
• Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or similar certification is preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum 4 years of buying/procurement experience.

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of supply chain management, procurement strategies, and vendor negotiation techniques.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and procurement software (e.g., SAP, COUPA, QAD).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost reduction and process improvement.
• Ability to work independently and lead complex procurement projects.

Target Hiring Range

Annual Salary: USD 70,000.00 - USD 92,400.00
