Buyer – ManufacturingA growing custom manufacturing company is adding a newly created Buyer position to support increased business demand and help expand the purchasing function. This is a great opportunity to join a highly collaborative environment where you’ll work closely with production, engineering, sales, and leadership teams while helping improve purchasing processes during an upcoming ERP transition to Epicor.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys fast-paced manufacturing environments, vendor communication, negotiating pricing, and managing purchase orders from start to finish.ResponsibilitiesReview production schedules and material requirements to determine purchasing needsCreate and manage purchase orders for steel, components, hardware, and other production materialsCommunicate with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, availability, and delivery schedulesTrack orders and follow up on delayed or missing shipmentsCoordinate with production and engineering teams to resolve material shortages or specification issuesMaintain accurate purchasing data within the ERP systemSupport transition from a manual ERP system to EpicorAssist with identifying cost savings opportunities, alternate suppliers, and process improvementsHelp manage inventory levels and reorder points to support production flowQualificationsRequired3–5+ years of purchasing, buying, or procurement experience within a manufacturing environmentExperience placing purchase orders and working directly with suppliers/vendorsComfortable negotiating pricing and communicating with vendors via phone and emailExperience working in fast-paced, cross-functional environmentsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailERP system experiencePreferredExperience in job shop, machine building, metal fabrication, custom assembly, or similar environmentsExperience purchasing steel or raw materialsExperience working within smaller manufacturing teamsExposure to Epicor or ERP system transitionsAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferredWhat We’re Looking ForTeam-oriented mindset with strong communication skillsAbility to thrive in a collaborative, hands-on environmentSelf-starter who can manage multiple priorities effectivelyComfortable working within evolving processes and systemsInterview ProcessOnsite interview with leadership and purchasing team membersExperience LevelMinimum: 3 years of relevant purchasing/buying experienceIdeal: 5+ years within custom manufacturing or fabrication environmentsEnvironmentThis position works closely with purchasing, engineering, production, payroll/HR, and sales teams in a highly collaborative manufacturing setting.
