Primary Responsibilities:

 Building relationships and negotiating with suppliers, processing and tracking purchase orders, optimizing inventory levels, assuring quality and delivering year over year savings while meeting demand requirements.




  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • Previous experience desired, not required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, emphasis on Excel
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, negotiating and communication (both verbal and written) skills
  • Experience in Epicor or equivalent ERP system desired


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to meet procurement objectives.
  • Researches, selects, and purchases the highest quality materials/products at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
  • Builds relationships and negotiates or renegotiates with suppliers.
  • Manages supplier contracts
  • Places Purchase Orders with vendors by calling, emailing, or faxing according to Lean Purchasing.
  • Works with international vendors and customs brokers on import shipments.  Maintains necessary paperwork.
  • Notifies vendors of damages, shortages, and defective parts.   Generates packing slips when returning for repair/replacement.
  • Reconciles price discrepancies on purchase orders and invoices for Accounting.
  • Processes requisitions and updates management on the status of orders.
  • Arranges transport of goods and tracks orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Coordinates with inventory team and management as required.
  • Assesses the quality of stock received and escalates any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
  • Using ERP system:
  • Enters annual blanket orders.
  • Enters purchase orders for outside routings.   Works with Shop Floor Control, receives in the system, and follows up with paperwork when necessary.
  • Routinely closes and purges old purchase orders.
  • Receives drop-shipped orders in the system and gives necessary paperwork to Customer Service and Accounting.



  • Participates in lean activities, including but not limited to:
  • Lean training and lean events such as kaizen or a 5-day event.
  • Participates in 5S program.  
  • DMAICs.  Continuously looks for ways to improve both the department’s and own individual efficiencies and time management, as well as ways to improve any aspect of the Company’s operations and develops and implements DMAICs accordingly.
  • Notifies Supervisors/Managers of any operations, department, safety, personnel problems, etc. and cooperates in resolving such issues as well.  For example, requests assistance when systems prevent the efficient performance of duties or when a system fails.  
  • Complies with all Company policies (i.e. personnel, safety, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.  (Such duties may or may not be essential functions of the job.)


NOTE:   All duties are essential functions of the job unless otherwise noted.  


Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily works indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.   
  • Requires sitting, standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, stooping, bending, using a computer, and transporting up to 75 pounds.
