This role is on-site at our Manufacturing Plant in Indianapolis, Indiana, not a remote opportunity. 

SCOPE:

Position purchases commodities, ingredients, rigid, flexible and paper supplies necessary for the operation of the business. Provide and analyze data from various sources to facilitate the business decision process. Interface primarily with Planning, Manufacturing, IT, Marketing and Quality to optimize the supply chain and delight both internal and external customers. Typically requires three to five years of supply chain knowledge, purchasing, and ERP systems proficiency.



Position Responsibilities:

 

Purchasing Leadership:


  • Place purchase orders at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements and other factors.
  • Coordinate with planning the optimum purchase quantities at the right time.
  • Negotiate component pricing and manage purchase price variances and weeks on hand inventories to maximize financial stability.
  • Coordinate the authorization of payment of invoices or return of merchandise.
  • Support the Item and Vendor Master Governance process and manage new vendor and item additions in a centralized ERP system.
  • Interface with suppliers incorporating spend, specification, quality, on-time delivery, and purchase order data.
  • Support company ethics and philosophy.


Problem Solving:


  • Quick grasp of production systems and manufacturing integration that will provide optimal integrated solutions.
  • Support the resolution of raw material related problems.
  • Ability to work in the production facility to troubleshoot issues with QA and manufacturing.


Other Duties:


  • Assist in the vendor scorecard process.
  • Work with Commercialization on material delivery timelines.
  • Manage ERP system pricing.
  • Conduct quarterly supplier business reviews with key suppliers.
  • Visit suppliers to develop their costing structures to aid in negotiations. Travel 10 – 15%

 


Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:

 

Position Qualifications:

  • Four-year college degree in supply chain management, business management or a related field required.
  • Minimum of three years procurement experience.
  • Experience in the food industry a must.
  • Must have worked in a centralized work organization.
  • Exceptional communications (written and oral), change leadership and customer service skills.
  • High sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Problem solving ability (to include analytical, prioritization, and escalation skills).
  • Planning skills.
  • Understanding of the technical aspects of components, including reading specifications, understanding drawings, and knowledge of end-use applications.
  • Detailed knowledge of ERP business systems.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-changing environment.
  • Accountability for completion of assigned tasks and achieving associated milestones.


Technical Requirements:

  • Hands on experience with purchase order entry in ERP systems
  • Computer Skills, specifically Excel, to support data analysis.
  • Support formal master data governance process including the Vendor Master and Item Master.
  • Applicant will be required to support specification optimization and rationalization providing cost effective raw material alternatives to Operations and Customers.
  • Compliance with AIB, BRC, FSMA, GFSI, federal, state, and local regulations.
