Job Overview:

This position is instrumental in providing technical solutions to support business and manufacturing operations. The Business Systems Manager will support the manufacturing ERP systems and business applications for analysis, specification, functional support, training, and documentation. This position will formulate systems to parallel overall business strategies. The person in this role should have a detailed knowledge of emerging technologies, as well as excellent system ERP knowledge, and manufacturing business processes.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing and coordinating multiple projects and tasks including setting priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Strong technical analysis and trouble-shooting skills
  • High level attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills, including written and verbal communication and the ability to facilitate meetings/conversations
  • ITIL or formal Service management training

Preferred skill:

  • Experience with infrastructure related services such as Hosting, Network and End User Computing

Education and Training Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, or related discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience in ERP
  • Experience with Sage Pro, Alere, and Oracle preferred

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • System and business process requirements gathering and detailed documentation
  • Specific extensive knowledge of assigned system structures, applications, and system interfacing
  • Overall process knowledge and understanding of business and manufacturing applications
  • Managing implementation partner and related contract management
  • Provide end user support by identifying and delivering timely issue resolution
  • Create and conduct functional testing and training on assigned business applications
  • Identify and deploy process improvement initiatives that maximize business value from IT solutions
  • Liaison between business and technical areas
  • Work with report end users to determine data requirements, design output format, validate results for both ad hoc and scheduled reports for internal use
  • Maintain system security and stability and sustain business continuity initiatives
  • Create and compare “current state” and “future state” business process maps
  • Initiate, control, and manage projects effectively from inception to implementation
  • Develop functional specifications as needed
  • Ensure Sonoco IT standards are employed in all activities
  • Consistently enforce safe work practices
  • Assist in setting strategic direction for ITIO services that is aligned with the needs and plans of business partners across Sonoco.
