Position Purpose:The Area Manager, New Business Development is responsible for driving company growth by identifying, pursuing, and securing new customer accounts within an assigned geographic territory. This role focuses exclusively on new business "hunting"—prospecting, outreach, needs assessment, and onboarding of new customers—before transitioning accounts to Account Managers for ongoing growth and retention. The Area Manager builds strong marketplace relationships, executes strategic prospecting plans, and ensures new customer activation meets defined performance and profitability standards.
Major Functional Responsibilities:
- Identify, target, and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned territory.
- Conduct prospecting activities including outbound calls, in‑person visits, networking, and participation in industry events.
- Perform needs assessments and design solutions that align with company products, programs, and capabilities.
- Lead new customer onboarding, working cross‑functionally to ensure smooth setup, initial orders, and service alignment.
- Transition newly activated accounts to Account Managers following established handoff protocols.
- Track and report pipeline activity, conversion rates, and new business revenue contributions.
- Collaborate with Sales Leadership to refine territory strategy, growth targets, and prospect prioritization.
- Maintain current knowledge of company offerings, market dynamics, pricing models, and competitive landscape.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, pricing structures, credit requirements, and operational capabilities.
- Function as a team member within the department and organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Required Qualifications

Work Experience:
3 - 5 Years Outside Sales, Business Development, or Related Field
