Allegan, MI Area | Temp-to-Hire

OnStaff USA is recruiting a Building & Machine Maintenance Technician for a long-standing custom metal fabrication facility in the Allegan area. This shop supports a wide range of fabricated steel components and assemblies, operating a mix of laser cutting, forming, welding, and machining equipment in a fast-paced, made-to-order environment.

This is a temp-to-hire role for a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and keeping both the plant and production equipment running safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Be Working On

This role supports both production machinery and facility infrastructure in a fabrication-focused operation.

Equipment & Production Support

  • Preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fabrication equipment including:

    • Laser cutting systems

    • Presses and forming equipment

    • Saws, welders, and CNC machinery

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues

  • Assist with equipment installations, relocations, and upgrades as production needs change

Facility & Building Maintenance

  • Maintain HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, air compressors, and general building systems

  • Perform routine inspections to identify potential failures or safety concerns

  • Coordinate with outside contractors when specialized services are required

Process & Safety

  • Document maintenance activities, work orders, and parts usage

  • Follow all safety policies and OSHA requirements

  • Maintain a clean, organized maintenance and shop environment

  • Support continuous improvement and uptime initiatives

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or metal fabrication preferred

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining industrial production equipment

  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics

  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment

  • Basic welding or fabrication skills are a plus

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights, and perform physical tasks as needed

  • Strong problem-solving ability and comfort working independently

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications preferred

  • Occasional off-hours work may be needed to support production uptime

Schedule

  • Day shift

  • 8-hour shifts

  • Some flexibility required for maintenance needs
