OnStaff USA is recruiting a Building & Machine Maintenance Technician for a long-standing custom metal fabrication facility in the Allegan area. This shop supports a wide range of fabricated steel components and assemblies, operating a mix of laser cutting, forming, welding, and machining equipment in a fast-paced, made-to-order environment.
This is a temp-to-hire role for a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and keeping both the plant and production equipment running safely and efficiently.
This role supports both production machinery and facility infrastructure in a fabrication-focused operation.
Equipment & Production Support
Preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fabrication equipment including:
Laser cutting systems
Presses and forming equipment
Saws, welders, and CNC machinery
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues
Assist with equipment installations, relocations, and upgrades as production needs change
Facility & Building Maintenance
Maintain HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, air compressors, and general building systems
Perform routine inspections to identify potential failures or safety concerns
Coordinate with outside contractors when specialized services are required
Process & Safety
Document maintenance activities, work orders, and parts usage
Follow all safety policies and OSHA requirements
Maintain a clean, organized maintenance and shop environment
Support continuous improvement and uptime initiatives
3+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or metal fabrication preferred
Strong mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining industrial production equipment
Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics
Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
Basic welding or fabrication skills are a plus
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights, and perform physical tasks as needed
Strong problem-solving ability and comfort working independently
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications preferred
