Overall Purpose: Why the Job Exists & What You Will Do: |
As the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for the successful operations of the Plant including identifying and implementing continuous improvement / operational excellence programs, managing capital improvement projects, and managing the profitable management of the plant while meeting or exceeding key metrics. You will also be responsible for developing the annual budget and managing to that budget. |
Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes: Your Accountabilities in the Role |
- Leading the Plant safety committee and safety initiatives including capital projects
- Leading the efficient scheduling and safe execution of customer orders ensuring they are shipped on-time, complete, and error-free
- Implementation of operational excellence programs such as 5S and Lean including teaching, coaching, mentoring, guiding shop floor employees, engaging shop floor employees with communication of expectations, accountability to those expectations, and feedback on plant and individual performance
- Managing and controlling costs to ensure budget goals are attained in the areas of scrap, material usage, overtime, tools, and supplies
- Leading, mentoring, and developing team members to continually grow competencies within the facility while creating a challenging work environment that retains top talent.
- Managing the contract maintenance of the facility and equipment - initiating Capital Expense requests where applicable.

Position Requirements: |
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or other related field; or equivalent of coursework and experience
- Experience:5+ years of progressive Leadership/Management experience within a manufacturing environment – Including P&L responsibility & experience with annual budgeting process. Experience in steel/metal fabrication environment preferred, but not required. Experience in a Union environment is also preferred.
- Certification(s): Six Sigma or Lean certifications highly preferred, but not required
- Functional Skills: Strong budgeting, planning, production scheduling, and “hands on” production experience to meet the goals; Lean-thinking and process improvement skills; thorough understanding of the complete supply chain process; Safety/OSHA experience; Strong attention to detail, exceptionally organized, with excellent decision-making skills
- Technology Aptitude/Skills: Strong analytical skills, ability to process data into information, proficient in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills
- Language Skills: Able to read/write/speak English fluently; with strong presentation and excellent verbal/written skills
- Leadership/Behaviors: Strong servant-leadership skills; flexible and adaptable; ability to mentor, engage, and grow a team; demonstrates a high ability to independently meet goals and solve problems; balances sense of urgency with hands-on mentoring and leading on the shop floor. Willing to solicit feedback from all contributors; Experience as a “Change Agent” and ability to lead with a vision to align and motivate teams

Equipment Used: |
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions: |
- Ability to sit at desk for 5+ hours per day
- Ability to operate keyboard and view computer screen for majority of day 6-7 hours
- Ability to write ideas/information in a logical flow for 5+ hours per day
- Ability to read and respond on an on-going basis daily due to nature of the work, throughout the day
- Ability to communicate with others via phone, in-person, and computer on-going
- Ability to listen to customers, problem-solve, and respond accordingly
- Ability to instruct and/or operate basic hand or power tools
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, twist, climb, and carry and lift to 75 lbs.
- Ability to climb towers, Grain Bins & Catwalks with heights of up to 150 ft (with safety gear) may also be required on occasion for troubleshooting and problem solving while on-site

Environmental Conditions & Travel: |
- The employee is primarily exposed to a mixed office/factory environment with moderate noise. The employee is required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment while on the factory / shop floor.
- Limited travel may be required (less than 10%)
