Overall Purpose: Why the Job Exists & What You Will Do: |
As the Maintenance Manager, you will manage the operational and fiscal activities of KC maintenance department and develop annual department budgets. Plan and implement systems and procedures to improve department effectiveness – cost and service to customers. Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures. Assist with hire, train and coach departmental staff. |
Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes: Your Accountabilities in the Role |
- Maintenance Manager: Approx. 100% of the Job
- Manage the operational and fiscal activities of the department, including staffing levels, budget and departmental goals
- Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve the quality and efficiency of the department.
- Evaluate and document Maintenance processes and problems. Develop solutions to enhance efficiencies.
- Coordinate projects and repairs in satellite CTB companies, coordinate deployment of shared services such as maintenance management system capabilities and consult with engineering on projects as requested.
- Direct staff in set up and implementation of required reports.
- Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist HR in setting up and conduct interviews to hire new staff and provide employee orientation.
- Coach and provide career development advice to staff.
- Establish goals with input from staff
- Prepare annual appraisals and review with employees.
- Responsible for staff scheduling to include: work assignments, employee training, vacations, overtime scheduling and absence back-up.
- Assist staff to resolve complex or out of policy problems.
- Determine and maintain proper staffing levels.
- Schedule and conduct department meetings.
- Define and implement process improvements in department using lean principles and tools where applicable.
- Communicate and coordinate with managers and Plant Manager to plan and deliver maintenance services.
- Coordinate with HR on safety issues; assist with OSHA inspections and correction of items out of compliance, assist with safety committee as needed
- Responsible to ensure our PM and TPM programs meets all the OSHA requirements.
- Review PM’s and TPM’s approving corrections as needed. Establish spare parts to stock for existing and new equipment installations.
- Responsible for stock levels and inventory control for the store rooms. Develop single source and consignment suppliers.
- Coordinate with vendor and legal department to ensure we are in compliance with required state permits.
- Provide input on new equipment purchases as requested.
- Define long range department objectives and plan for their achievement.

Position Requirements: |
- Education: BS degree in management or technical discipline
- Experience: 5+ years of supervisory team building and direct maintenance work experience with project management.
- Certification(s): N/A
Functional Skills: Mechanical and Electrical Industrial Certifications - Language Skills: Able to read/write/speak English fluently.
- Leadership/Behaviors: Ability to engage with new technology, collaborate with team members, to ensure project plan timelines, guideposts, and due dates are achieved is also important. Leadership skills with an ability to lead and influence cross functional teams through product design gates is key. Must be innovative and possess diplomacy with a desire to develop management skills. Passionate about making a difference.

- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, wifi, phones, printers/copiers/scanners and filling systems.

Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions: |
- Ability to sit at desk for 5+ hours per day
- Ability to operate keyboard and view computer screen for majority of day 6-7 hours
- Ability to write ideas/information in a logical flow for 5+ hours per day
- Ability to read and respond on an on-going basis daily due to nature of the work, throughout the day
- Ability to communicate with others via phone, in-person, and computer on-going
- Ability to listen to customers, problem-solve, and respond accordingly
- Ability to instruct and/or operate basic hand or power tools
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, twist, climb, and carry and lift to 75 lbs.
Ability to climb Grain Bins & Catwalks with heights of up to 150 ft (with safety gear) may also be required on occasion for troubleshooting and problem solving while on-site |
Environmental Conditions & Travel: |
- The employee is primarily exposed to a normal office environment with moderate noise. The employee is occasionally required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment while visiting manufacturing departments or client locations.
- This position may face inclement weather conditions when traveling.
