Description
Hangar 24 is looking to add to their team and is now hiring a Brewer to help in their pursuit of high-quality craft beer.
Job Summary
Working as a key member of the production team, the brewer will maintain and execute all functions according to policy and procedure, safety requirements, and best practice. Tasks include but are not limited to all aspects of raw materials handling, milling of grain, wort production, fermentation monitoring, yeast handling and pitching, clarification, transfers, finished beer monitoring, equipment CIP and general sanitation.
Key areas of Responsibility
- Is responsible for adhering to all rules, regulations, policies, programs, and related Hangar 24 HACCP, GMP, 6S etc. to ensure safety / quality / efficiency of Hangar 24 products and equipment.
- Daily involvement in brewery tasting panel to improve quality of beer.
- Operation, Cleaning and Maintenance of the Brewhouse / cellar and related equipment, with a focus on quality and care.
- Assist with continual improvement projects.
- Providing pivotal communication from shift to shift to help ensure timely production flow.
- Follow established safety procedures, maintaining a safe work environment always.
- Use and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Help the packaging department when needed.
- Communicate inventory needs to Brewing Manager.
- Troubleshoot equipment and assist maintenance in repairs.
- Aid in new recipe development.
- Rotate into R&D Role to pilot and work on projects.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- 4 year college degree in a natural science (preferably one that applies to brewing), formal brewing education, or 2 years of production brewery experience preferred
- Comprehension on the fundamentals of Brewing Science
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong self-motivator
- Sound judgment
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work while standing for 8 consecutive hours
Work Environment
- Brewery environment with manufacturing hazards, such as hoses, heights, hot water and moving machinery
- Physically and mentally demanding (e.g. moving 50-100 pounds of raw materials, and calculating chemical levels)
- Minimal travel required
