Job Purpose: Using standard tools, interprets drawings in order to program and operate a Hydraulic CNC or manual Press Brake.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Press Brake Operator:
o Reports to work on time with appropriate attire, (steel toe boots, safety glasses, ear plugs, and gloves).
o Operates equipment safely and uses safe work habits while performing his job function.
o Accurately records time and materials used on the work order/job traveler and in operating software.
o When necessary, accurately record time spent on maintenance or waiting on material in operating software.
o Maintains a clean work area.
o Selects and installs correct tooling in order to create the radius that is called for on the drawing.
o Programs and operates CNC or manual Press Brake and adjust the back stops to create multiple identical parts in large quantities.
o Uses calibrated measuring tools to verify products are made to the drawing and within tolerances to ensure conformance with customer’s specifications.
o Monitors operation of the Press Brake, detects faulty operation of equipment or defective materials, troubleshoots issues and notifies supervisor if assistance is required.
o Stacks parts in such a manner that they can be easily and safely moved to the next step on the job traveler.
o Operates hand and power tools as needed.
o Performs maintenance when required.
o Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
o Must be able to interpret drawings.
o Must have ability to operate Press Brake equipment.
o Must have basic computer skills.
o Must be able to select the proper tools in order to create the proper radius as required by the drawing.
o Must understand proper use of hand tools and calibrated measuring tools.
o Must be able to lift 50 Lbs.
o Must be able to stand up to 90% of the day.
o Must be able to work in unheated or non-air-conditioned areas.
