SUMMARY:  

The Bottling Maintenance Mechanic 1 is responsible for safely performing the installation, repair, and troubleshooting of: electrical systems, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical components for bottling machinery and equipment, as well as the use of welding equipment for fabrication and repairs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responding to calls via work orders or emergency calls over the radio
  • Disassembling broken or defective equipment to facilitate repair and reassembling the equipment when repairs are complete
  • Installing or replacing machinery, equipment, and new or replacement parts and instruments, using hand or power tools
  • Examining and testing machinery, equipment, components, and parts for defects to ensure proper functioning
  • Use of smart devices to fill out PM/WO Orders with appropriate information relative to jobs started or completed during the shift
  • Fabrication and welding: MIG, TIG, ARC across Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminum substrates 
  • Know how to use measuring devices such as, but not limited to: multi-meter/megger, dial caliper, measuring tape, rule, and micrometer 
  • Know the proper identification and utilization of shop tools
  • Have general working knowledge and understanding how to service, troubleshoot and repair site-specific equipment such as: bottle filler, risers, corker, screw capper, capsulator, labeler, case sealer and case packer.
  • May install minor modifications.  
  • Tasks are well defined, and guidance from a supervisor is readily available.  


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience w/480 v three-phase, demonstrated mechanical abilities, and welding skills
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and industrial maintenance
  • Previous experience with: forklifts, scissor lifts, and extended reach forklifts
  • Ability to work at heights and in inclement weather
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance
  • Ability to understand and comply with all safety requirements and cautions
  • Excludes trainees with no previous experience.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following: 

  • Regularly required to roll, move, lift,or carry up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, lean, lift, and squat 
  • Work long hours during the peak period 
  • Use stairs, ladders, and scaffolds
  • Work at heights and in inclement weather
  • Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Collect, interpret, and/or analyze complex data and information
  • Understand and respond to a diverse population


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  •  Works in a wine cellar where temperatures are cool and the noise level is usually moderate to high at times 
  •  Exposed to outside temperatures regularly
