Job Description

A well-established machine shop is seeking an experienced Boring Mill Machinist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating boring mill equipment to machine large, precision components to customer specifications. This role requires strong machining skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate horizontal and/or vertical boring mills.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions.
• Machine large metal parts to precise specifications and tolerances.
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for materials and job requirements.
• Measure and inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and gauges.
• Make necessary machine adjustments to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Perform routine maintenance and daily care of equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow all safety procedures and quality standards.
• Work efficiently to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of boring mill machining experience preferred.
• Strong blueprint reading and mathematical skills.
• Experience machining large, complex, and tight-tolerance components.
• Ability to use precision measuring equipment accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and dependable work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

• CNC boring mill experience.
• Experience machining steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and other alloys.
• Crane and forklift experience.
