If you enjoy hands-on work, solving mechanical problems, and putting your welding skills to work on specialized heavy equipment, this could be the opportunity for you!

🔩 What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform detailed structural inspections of concrete pump booms, conveyors, outriggers, pedestals, and supporting structures.
  • Complete structural welding repairs to maintain equipment integrity and safe operation.
  • Identify cracks, defects, and structural concerns using visual inspections and nondestructive testing methods.
  • Perform dye penetrant and magnetic particle testing as needed.
  • Inspect bearings, bushings, pins, gear lash, and bearing tipping to ensure components meet required tolerances.
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment to complete inspections and repairs.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and identify worn or damaged components requiring repair or replacement.
  • Document inspection findings and repairs with before-and-after photographs and detailed reports.
  • Identify and order replacement parts and materials as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance and communicate findings and repair recommendations.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

🛠️ What We're Looking For

  • Degree or technical training in welding or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience. AWS D1.1 welding certification preferred but not required.
  • Strong structural welding skills, preferably involving heavy equipment, construction machinery, or similar applications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment and mechanical components.
  • Ability to read and interpret international welding symbols.
  • Knowledge of structural inspections, welding repairs, and nondestructive testing methods.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain SAI Inspector qualification in accordance with Document 30007000 (latest revision) within a timeframe established by SCHWING America.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain SAI Certified Welder qualification in accordance with Document 30007100 (latest revision) within a timeframe established by SCHWING America.

  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, SAP, and online applications.
  • Must have your own tools and toolbox.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a shop environment.
  • 5%-10% travel required. Must have valid drivers license and clean driving record.

💪 Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform hands-on inspections and repairs that involve standing, bending, stretching, and kneeling.
  • Comfortable working around large equipment and heavy mechanical components.
  • Ability to safely use welding equipment, hand tools, and other equipment required for inspections and repairs.
  • Perform computer-based documentation and administrative tasks as needed.
