Position Title

Body Shop Technician

General Functions

Performs body work and painting as assigned on all fleet equipment and vehicles.

Reporting Relationships

Reports To: Fleet Foreman
Supervises: None

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Perform tasks such as removing decals, replacing damaged door panels on trailers, and sanding fleet vehicles.
  2. Repair all types of body damage to both fiberglass and metal body parts and accessories.
  3. Perform welding on both aluminum and steel components.
  4. Fabricate metal parts as required.
  5. Keep the Parts Room informed of body and paint supply inventory levels on a weekly basis.
  6. Handle all body and paint materials in a safe and responsible manner.
  7. Maintain daily cleanliness of the work area, including floors, walls, tabletops, equipment, overhead doors, etc.
  8. Work safely at all times and report potential hazards or unsafe conditions to management immediately.
  9. Perform other service duties as assigned and deemed necessary by the Fleet Foreman.

Working Relationships

  • Daily interaction with all Fleet personnel.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous body shop, collision repair, or painting experience preferred.
  • Experience with fiberglass repair, metal repair, and welding techniques.
  • Ability to safely operate body shop tools and equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of painting and refinishing procedures.
  • Ability to lift, bend, stand, and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy parts and equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and shop conditions.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and reaching.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a fleet maintenance shop environment with exposure to noise, fumes, paint materials, welding equipment, and moving machinery. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
