The Opportunity:

 

The Blending Lead is responsible for overseeing all aspects of powder and formulation production, including accurate batching, blending, and handling of raw materials and finished products in compliance with cGMP and company quality standards. This position combines hands-on operational work with strong leadership and accountability, ensuring accurate batching, blending, and handling of both raw materials and finished products while leading and developing a high-performing team of operators to achieve production goals and operational excellence.


This includes operating mixers, milling equipment, metal detectors, and auxiliary machinery, validating batch records, managing ERP data, and ensuring all processes adhere to safety and regulatory requirements. The role also involves driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency, quality, and productivity.


In addition, the Blending Lead provides strong leadership and supervision for the blending team, including training new operators, mentoring staff, tracking performance, and fostering a culture of accountability and operational excellence. The lead ensure production schedules are met, quality standards are maintained, and the team consistently SOPs and safety protocols, serving as role model for professionalism and high performance. 


 

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of 5-10 blending operators, managing workflow, performance and ongoing training.
  • Prepare, sequentially load, and operate twin-shell mixers, ensuring raw materials are accurately weighed, blended, and labeled pet batch records.
  • Operate auxiliary equipment including vibratory screens, mills, sifters, and metal detectors; ensure proper particle sizing and blending uniformity.
  • Verify raw materials, maintain accurate documentation, and perform double-check procedures for top-loaded materials.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control to resolve batch discrepancies, validate blends, and finalize batch records.
  • Support Packaging and Production Planning by ensuring blended materials are delivered on schedule and meet specifications.
  • Partner with R&D and Technical teams to execute trial batches, new formulations, and process improvements.
  • Maintain equipment and blending cleanliness, perform routine maintenance, and follow sanitation protocols.
  • Lead daily and weekly team meetings focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Assist with inventory accuracy, cycle counts, and material handling, including forklifts pallet jacks, and dust control procedures.

                                                                                                                                              

What You'll Bring:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in nutraceutical or pharmaceutical blending/manufacturing; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with QC, Packaging, Production, and R&D teams.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and execute batch records, SOPs, and safety documentation.
  • Proficiency in math (fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages, metric conversions); ability to calculate yield and efficiency.
  • Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.; safely operate material handling equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to perform essential job functions.

 A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $21.00-$25.00. The compensation offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and/or education.
