Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. The Biological Safety Laboratory (BSL) team located at our manufacturing site in Ave Maria, FL (AMIE) is responsible for performing laboratory testing and activities according to procedures to support monitoring programs and manufacturing activities. We are searching for an intern pursuing a Biology, Chemistry, or related science degree to support the BSL team at AMIE. The individual will assist in maintaining the laboratory and in the performance of various tests (such as environmental monitoring sample collection and testing). A successful candidate will be detail-oriented in test execution/documentation and will deliver results / communicate issues in a timely and accurate manner. The Biological Safety Lab is a fast-paced environment a successful candidate must be a fast learner and be able to perform work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
This internship will run from May 2027 – August 2027. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Ave Maria, FL facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Data entry into BSL LIMS systems and paper documentation.
- Assisting in the collection of Laboratory Test Data.
- Assisting in Sample Preparation for microbiological and/or Chemistry Test Samples.
- Assist with the completion of tasks on the Project List as needed.
- Collection of Environmental Samples.
- Laboratory Maintenance and Cleaning.
- Glassware preparation and autoclave operation.
Education and Experience:
- Progress towards a college degree in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biomedical Engineering required. (Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify.)
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
- Experience with Good Documentation Practices, Microbiology Sample Collection, and Gram Staining preferred.
- Strong computer proficiency and fast learning skills preferred.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
