Biochemical Process Engineer

KBR Wilmington Operation Center is at the forefront of green process technologies helping the world become a better place. KBR is looking for a Biomedical Process Engineer to independently apply biochemical engineering techniques and process knowledge in the rapidly growing biotechnology, pharmaceutical and food grade industries. This role includes early process development through detailed design activities. This position will provide technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers will be consulted extensively by associates.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • The Process Engineer will be responsible for providing engineering design support in fermentation, aseptic design, pharmaceutical packaging and food grade processes.

  • Work Group Lead that will handle multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

  • Mentoring of junior engineers as a work group leader and SME in related fields.

  • Ability to interface with clients.

  • Ability to interface with other disciplines including piping and mechanical to build expertise in these fields.

  • As required, provide field support to our clients, with the occasional need to travel.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemical Engineering, Biosystems Engineering or Chemical Engineering required.

  • Demonstrated leadership of process design on capital projects, including responsibility for budget, schedule, and change management.

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in pharmaceutical or aseptic environment required. Operations experience is a plus.

  • Requires thorough knowledge of GMPs and understanding in aseptic processing.

  • Working knowledge of FDA regulations.

  • A professional engineering license is a plus but not a requirement.
