Job Overview:

Job Title: Bindery Assistant

**Location: Raleigh, NC 27615 **

Pay Rate: $17.00/hr on W2

Job Type: Temp-to-Hire

Duration: 6 months

Shift: 3rd Shift, 11:30 PM – 7:30 AM

Training: 1st Shift

Schedule: 8-hour shifts; hours may change to 12-hour shifts based on business needs.

Job Summary

The Bindery Assistant will operate and maintain bindery equipment, follow work orders and production procedures, and ensure jobs are completed accurately and on schedule. Responsibilities include cutting, folding, shrink-wrapping, inserting, and preparing materials for personalization, fulfillment, and shipping.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read work orders and job tickets to determine setup specifications and production instructions.
  • Follow equipment startup, cleaning, and shutdown procedures.
  • Operate bindery machinery while maintaining production schedules and quality standards.
  • Load, set up, adjust, and operate cutting machines, including Polar and Seybold.
  • Cut and feed cards through PMC machines, including single- and double-line operations.
  • Load, set up, adjust, and operate MBO folding machines.
  • Set up and operate shrink-wrapping machines.
  • Feed envelopes and inserts into inserter machines according to job ticket instructions.
  • Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot production issues.
  • Record daily production output and material consumption.
  • Communicate issues related to orders, equipment, and workflow.
  • Follow quality control procedures and maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three to five years of related bindery experience.
  • Ability to read a ruler accurately.
  • Basic math, writing, and computer skills, including data entry.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to pass a mechanical assessment or demonstrate equivalent experience.
  • Ability to pass a color vision test.
  • Accuracy, reliability, decision-making, time management, and self-motivation.
  • Good attendance and willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, see, and hear.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, balancing, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks and handle materials using hands and fingers.
  • Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work around moving mechanical parts and loud machinery.
  • Good close, distance, and peripheral vision, color recognition, focus adjustment, and eye-hand coordination.

Workplace Requirements

  • Steel-toe shoes are required.
  • Shirts must be tucked in.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times.
  • Cell phones are not permitted on the production floor.
  • Overtime may be required during busy periods.
