Position summary: Ensure ongoing HR support in all areas of Corporation, aligning the human resources function to meet the objectives as established by top management.

General Purpose: To partner with the CHRO in maintaining and managing the employee benefit programs, employee relations, as well as policy application and enforcement. Provide supervision over the receptionist and payroll staff.

Role qualifications:

  • Must provide benefits support and guidance to employees and management.
  • Must set and follow best practices in regard to the workplace, benefits and company policies.
  • Must stay current on benefit trends and make recommendations for enhancements to our programs.
  • Must demonstrate moral and ethical character.
  • Must be available and willing for occasional travel to branches and acquisition target companies.

Position responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the daily management of primary benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life, disability and other ancillary benefit programs.
  • Educate employees and promote our benefit offerings.
  • Support employees with qualifying events and other benefit related activities.
  • Lead and facilitate annual Open Enrollment to include communications with employees.
  • Administration of Cobra through ADP.
  • Prepare and approve annual 1095C statements through ADP.
  • Troubleshoot employee claims issues in partnership with broker and insurance carriers.
  • Audit insurance statements and pay monthly invoices
  • Process Qualified Medical Child Support Orders
  • Monitor employee arrears and collect premiums
  • Facilitate Annual Section 125 Flex Plan discrimination testing.
  • Update ADP homepage with current benefit materials
  • FMLA administration
  • Submit and monitor the approval of short-term disability claims and keep employees aware of status.
  • Timekeeping administration, as needed.
  • Provide supervision over payroll and receptionist roles to include mentoring, timecard approval, and annual reviews.
  • Provide oversight of company payroll
  • Act as backup for payroll processing
  • Act as backup for commissions, expense reimbursements and bonus payment programs
  • Investigate employee complaints, document on-going employee issues, and support managers with employee relations issues.
  • Process terminations – prepare paperwork, terminate employees from HRIS. Ensure all outstanding items are closed out.
  • Send separated employees Cobra forms and 401k distribution packets
  • Complete MRA wage and benefit surveys, as needed
  • Provide reports on benefit utilization and costs for upper management
  • Handle various projects as assigned

Essential skills and experience:

  • College degree in Human Resources or closely related field.
  • 5 – 7 years of Human Resources experience with a heavy focus on benefits administration
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Problem Solving abilities
  • Strong computer proficiency with the Microsoft Suite
  • Previous experience with ADP preferred but not required.
  • Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong team player

Nonessential skills and experience:

  • PHR or SPHR Certification
  • Awareness of the products we sell
