General Summary:

Qualcomm’s Automotive Telematics Team in Boulder, Colorado is seeking individuals with a thorough understanding of the baseband and peripheral systems in the Automotive ecosystem. As a member of a multi-disciplined Engineering team the roles and responsibilities will encompass all the phases associated with the design, development, and qualification of telematics modules and multi-processor-based telematics control units.

Applicants must have a thorough understanding of the baseband implements and the peripheral systems used in the Automotive Telematics market segment. Specifically, the modem and applications processors, power management solutions, dynamic and storage memory architectures, CAN microcontrollers & transceivers, Ethernet PHY’s, USB multiplexers, and sensors.

The candidate’s ability to continuously communicate in a timely and clear manner, organize effectively and document work thoroughly is paramount

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A comprehensive understanding of the baseband systems that comprise solutions for the automotive marketplace: Power, Processors, Memory, Networking, Sensors, Audible sound in/out, and Security Modules. And the buses between the systems: PCIe, CAN, Ethernet, USB, SDIO, I2C, LVDS, and SPI
  • Fluent in the creation and interpretation of block diagrams, electrical schematics and design using Mentor, and the creation and maintenance of the bill of materials
  • Experience performing power and signal integrity simulations including 10Gbps or higher signals and the various IO analyses using methodologies from model extraction through simulation. Consolidating the outcomes and implementing design changes to address failing simulations
  • Experience with PCB structures, circuit and layout guidelines, high speed design concepts, signal integrity, power integrity, and transmission line theory
  • Experience with board designs that encompass DDR4/DDR5, 10Gbps or higher SERDES board, RGMII/USXGMII, I2C, JTAG, UART, SPI, SD Card, and EMMC
  • Experience with FPGA board design (Xilinx and/or Altera) and the FPGA HDL coding
  • Well versed using oscilloscopes, logic and protocol analyzers, power supplies
  • PC Skill: Windows files and systems, various basic OS settings, installing/updating drivers, Ethernet settings. Microsoft Tools: EXCEL, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, OneNote

Ideal candidate will have:

  • 6-10 years of design experience in an R&D setting where your involvement, leadership, and ownership traversed all the product’s development phases; concept, bring-up, optimization, validation, and sustaining
  • 6-10 years of hands-on system, circuit, component level analysis as well as the analysis and debugging of the controlling software for the design solutions containing analog, and digital circuits, and the communication technologies and protocols between these circuits and systems.
