DESCRIPTION:
The maintenance technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of a facility’s mechanical and production equipment. This role requires a versatile skill set to handle various maintenance tasks, ensuring the facility remains safe, functional and efficient.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Basic understanding and working with mechanical and electrical and plumbing systems
- Focuses on routine maintenance tasks and repairs on equipment and machinery to ensure optimal functionality and safety
- Effectively communicating with team members, and possibly vendors or contractors
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
- Install and repair piping systems for water, air, and fluid transfer, including pumps, blowers, and associated equipment
- Assist in the installation and setup of new equipment and machinery
- Conduct routing inspections to identify potential issues and prevent breakdowns
- Maintain records of maintenance and repairs
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests to resolve issues to avoid breakdowns or equipment failures that could impact production output
- Collaborate closely with other maintenance staff and engineering teams to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality installations and equipment performance
- Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted safe work practices
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma, GED equivalent
- A minimum of 1 year of maintenance experience
- Basic reading, writing, and math
- Basic working knowledge of electricity, plumbing, hydraulics and refurbishing
- Self-directed, well organized, and motivated
- High attention to detail
- Computer proficiency (Excel, Word)
- Must be reliable and have excellent attendance
- Strong knowledge of maintenance procedures, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, plumbing and basic tools and mechanical systems
- Excellent troubleshooting skills to diagnose and fix issues efficiently and independently
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and facility associates
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Capability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various conditions
PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:
- Standing for extended periods of time, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, or bending to the floor; use hands to finger, handle or feel parts and materials; reach with hands and arms and overhead; and talk and/or hear instructions and equipment sounds
- Occasionally life and/or move up to 40 pounds
- Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Ability to differentiate shades and color to identify coating defects
- Near acuity or accommodation required for reading instrumentation and documentation, dial and digital gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of coating operations
- Ability to handle delicate parts
WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB:
- Regularly exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts, ovens, and risk of burns
- Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock
- High noise levels from operating machines
- The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to hazardous materials commonly used in a manufacturing environment (i.e., safety glasses and shoes, gloves, ear plugs/covers, mask, cleanroom suit)
- High noise levels while working near operating machines
- Physical hazards while working near moving equipment and mechanical parts
- Possible breathing of fumes, odors, dust, and mist
