This opening is a remote position and will be apart of their General Engineering CAS business unit. They are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer that holds a strong technical background in AWS. This person will be aligned to a project based workload - with a predominant focus on two highly visible programs. This resource needs to have proven, hands-on experience supporting AWS Migrations projects, the ability to handle multiple workstreams and project deadlines, and experience communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This person would be working with the Architect & Engineers and other SME's - from the technology side, as well as hold responsibility of updating Business stakeholders and project deliverables, updates and milestones.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Works as a member of a team to identify, solution, and deliver infrastructure services to internal customers who deliver applications to end users
  • Works as a member of a team to provide proactive and responsive customer support to infrastructure services/solutions deployed by and owned by the team.
  • Works as a member of a team to create & maintain vendor relationships with 3rd parties that deliver critical services for our success.
  • Works with the team to identify and drive a "team" architecture roadmap meant to transform us to providing infrastructure as a service/code utilizing on-perm and cloud technologies.
  • Responsible for advanced technical and personal mentoring of less-senior team members.
  • Root cause analysis on applications and server outages.
  • Leads and coordinates proof of concepts for validation against requirements and solutions design review and ranking with customer & leadership.
  • Application and server performance monitoring solutions.
  • Develops and maintains technical documentation and proposals.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Technical Expertise with AWS and it's services - Hands-on technical experience within cloud/AWS - Migrations/Implementations/Deployment experience is critical.
  • Experience as a lead for Cloud-related projects.
  • Strong Communication skills - ability to lead and work with different technical teams - including Architects and engineers both cloud and Infrastructure related - drive projects and meet deadlines.
  • Security Systems knowledge is important - Operating system handling, how to securely migrate cloud migration.
  • Documentation skills are a must

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High performing forward thinker who loves to tinker and make things better. Team is looking for someone who thinks outside of the box to help in cost savings efforts for both Collins and the end user.
  • Self motivator.
  • Adapt to the clients needs. They will be straddling multiple projects/efforts to help onboard clients to AWS. The team may scope, spec, and build the infrastructure, and in other cases they will turn it over to the customer to build the infrastructure. Migration efforts from bare metal to AWS.
  • Experienced in creating quotes using the AWS tools/S3 buckets.
  • Scripting knowledge is ideal
  • Networking experience is ideal
  • Candidate will be expected to give accurate forecasting time frames in regards to migration efforts.
  • Certifications are ideal, but not required
  • AWS Certificate (highly preferred)
  • Architect (highly preferred)
