Position Summary
This position is responsible for ensuring that quality requirements are met throughout product launch, production, and continuous improvement activities. The role partners closely with Engineering, Production, Program Management, Suppliers, and Customers to maintain compliance with internal systems, customer standards, and applicable quality and environmental requirements.
Essential Functions
- Participate in new product launches and engineering changes to ensure quality risks are identified and addressed proactively.
- Maintain accurate and complete quality documentation within designated customer portals and internal systems, including but not limited to PPAPs, rejections, engineering changes, warranty issues, supplier PPAPs, and supplier corrective actions.
- Lead the development of PFMEAs, control plans, and process flow diagrams in collaboration with Program Management and launch teams.
- Develop inspection requirements based on engineering drawings and specifications within the designated quality system.
- Program and support the use of measurement and test equipment.
- Support the development and implementation of work instructions in cooperation with Engineering and Production, covering process steps, measurement methods, and product handling.
- Train plant and office personnel on work instructions, procedures, and quality management system (QMS) requirements.
- Lead corrective action activities, including initiation, root cause analysis (e.g., 5-Why, 8D, Fishbone), implementation, verification, and closure within customer and internal systems. Ensure timely and effective communication of results to customers and management.
- Interface with customers and suppliers as required, including launch support, corrective action activities, audits, and on-site visits.
- Manage the disposition of nonconforming product, including participation in MRB reviews and ensuring proper documentation and closure.
- Develop and lead continuous improvement projects utilizing structured problem-solving and statistical methodologies (e.g., DOE, Red X).
- Analyze data and drive improvement initiatives focused on customer, supplier, and internal process performance.
- Participate in and support risk-based FMEA activities, mistake-proofing audits, and process improvements with Engineering and Production teams.
- Support supplier development activities, including corrective action validation, PPAP requests, supplier changes, and supplier audits. Ensure timely supplier responses.
- Participate in all required audits, including customer, internal, surveillance, supplier, and quality/environmental management system audits (including CQI requirements).
- Serve as a key customer contact, fostering effective working relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal departments.
- Work collaboratively across functional teams and organizational boundaries.
- Mentor and guide team members across multiple functions in quality-related activities.
- Maintain and support the computerized quality system, including customer and supplier concerns and internal corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all internal systems, procedures, and customer-specific requirements at all times.
- Perform all duties in accordance with applicable quality and environmental management system standards and customer requirements.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
- Strong foundation in statistical analysis, precision measurement, and process capability studies.
- Formal education or training in mathematics, statistics, Six Sigma, and industrial or manufacturing processes is essential.
