About the Client
Our client is a well-established and trusted leader in the vacuum equipment industry. They pride themselves on a tight-knit, collaborative work environment where expertise is shared and quality craftsmanship is valued. They are currently looking to add a key member to their small, specialized mechanical pump team—someone eager to learn their specialized processes and ultimately step into a leadership role within the department.
Position Summary
No specific vacuum pump experience? No problem. While direct pump experience is a plus, our client is actively seeking individuals with any strong mechanical background who possess a high aptitude for taking things apart, fixing them, and putting them back together. In this role, you will work closely with a veteran team member to receive comprehensive, hands-on training to master the art of troubleshooting, disassembling, rebuilding, repairing, reassembling, and testing mechanical vacuum pumps. This is a unique opportunity offering direct, long-term mentorship from senior staff, with a clear career pathway to take over daily operations and lead the department in the future.
Key Responsibilities
• Repair & Rebuild: Disassemble, clean, repair, reassemble, and test a variety of manufacturers' mechanical vacuum pumps (including oil-lubricated belt-driven and direct-drive pumps) to meet or exceed product specifications.
• Troubleshooting: Evaluate incoming equipment to diagnose mechanical issues and determine necessary repairs.
• Inventory Maintenance: Repair and prepare shelf-inventory mechanical pumps for customer sales.
• Safety & Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Consistently utilize safe work practices and protective gear (masks, eye shields, ear guards).
• Collaboration: Partner closely with senior technicians to absorb specialized processes, master equipment operations, and understand overall departmental workflows.
Qualifications & Skills Required
• Experience: 3 to 5+ years of hands-on mechanical repair experience in any mechanical environment.
• Open to Diverse Experience: We are highly encouraging candidates to apply who have a strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with tools, including fields such as:
o Automotive repair or motorcycle repair

o Compressors, motors, blowers, or rotating equipment
o Small engine repair or aviation maintenance
o Any hands-on environment involving the teardown and rebuild of mechanical systems.
• Technical Skills: Familiarity with standard shop tools (belt sander, drill press, wire wheel, grinder) and the ability to wire single-phase and three-phase motors.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently, and 51+ pounds with assistance.
• Work Ethic: Strong attention to detail, reliability, punctuality, and a proactive sense of urgency regarding task completion.
