Cyclonaire is currently looking for an Automation Technician to join our team. 

Job Summary

The Automation Technician is responsible for industrial automation controls troubleshooting, and programming as well as producing basic line diagram electrical drawings and executing pre-shipment testing for various types of industrial equipment. The Automation Technician works under the direction of a senior designer in an apprenticeship style learning environment that provides for growth into the advanced programming and electrical design roles in the Cyclonaire Engineering department. This role will be able to carry out its functions in accordance with Cyclonaire’ s Core Values. 

Essential Functions

•    Work in a professional engineering team environment and learn to design automated industrial controls for pneumatic conveying and batching systems

•    Ability to work dayshift

•    Execute engineering level quality assurance testing on our controls and equipment as it leaves our manufacturing facility 

•    Troubleshoot new and existing PLC controlled circuits and instrumentation

•    Program new PLC and HMI controls using Allen Bradley Studio 5000, and Ignition

•    Draft electrical control line diagrams using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical

•    Commission new equipment, as an OEM, at the customer site and provide customer support

•    Other duties as assigned


•    Industrial Automation Controls Troubleshooting

•    PLC & HMI Programming – Allen Bradley, Modicon, Ignition

•    Motor Control Circuits and Variable Frequency Drives

•    Ethernet Networking

•    Strong industrial mechatronic (electro-mechanical) skill set

•    Problem solving and critical thinking skills 

•    Previous plant electrical or electro-mechanical support experience is valued by Cyclonaire

Software Experience Desired

•    Allen Bradley Studio 5000 or Similar

•    Inductive Automation Ignition experience is a plus

•    AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical

•    MS Office Products (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)

Education / Experience: Associates Degree in a technical field or a minimum 1-2 years related experience and/or training. Equivalent combinations of education and practical experience will be considered.

Physical Demands: Requires frequent touching, grasping, and feeling of physical equipment. Talking, hearing, and repetitive motions are required. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Work requires constant visual ability. Must be able to lift to 50 pounds independently.

Work Environment: Normal working conditions are in a clean and climate-controlled office environment in a manufacturing facility. On-site destinations vary in working conditions.

Travel Requirements: Travel may be required 5-25% of the time both domestic and international. Must have a valid passport, driver’s license, and a driving record that permits the use of company automobiles.

Safety: Safety shoes (steel or composite toe), safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other forms of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required in designated areas.

Other Duties: Safe work performance is always required from each employee.  Perform all duties and responsibilities in a safe manner in accordance with applicable Health and Safety Manuals.  Required to wear or use PPE as applicable and to immediately report unsafe working conditions. Understanding and adhering to Cyclonaire Core Values is required.
