Automation Technician
Direct Hire | $24.00–$30.00/hour + PTO & Full Benefits

We're seeking a hands-on Automation Technician to help maximize the reliability, uptime, and performance of advanced automated manufacturing equipment. In this role, you'll troubleshoot and maintain industrial automation systems while supporting new equipment installations and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You'll Do
Automation & Controls
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)
- Program, configure, and teach industrial robots
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot HMI (Human Machine Interface) applications
- Configure and optimize machine vision systems and industrial sensors
- Troubleshoot industrial control networks and communication protocols
- Configure and maintain machine safety systems, including:
- Light curtains
- Safety relays
- Door interlocks
- Request-to-enter systems
Equipment Installation & Startup
- Support the launch and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment
- Install and integrate sensors, actuators, fittings, connectors, brackets, and custom machine components
- Select and specify industrial control hardware, including:
- PLC processors
- I/O modules
- Network cards
- Operator interfaces (HMIs)
- Size and specify pneumatic components and controls
- Configure and tune servo systems
- Size motors, motor starters, VFDs, conductors, and circuit protection devices
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Respond to equipment downtime and restore production as quickly as possible
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Prioritize multiple maintenance requests in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Communicate repairs, issues, and recommendations across shifts to ensure seamless operations
Continuous Improvement
- Assist with machinery and fixture improvements
- Recommend automation and control system enhancements to improve reliability and efficiency
- Support component selection for new automation projects
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and equipment performance
Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree or technical certification in one of the following:
- Automation Technology
- Mechatronics
- Electronics
- Industrial Controls
- Equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered
Technical Experience
- PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Industrial robot programming and teaching
- HMI configuration and troubleshooting
- Machine vision systems and industrial sensors
- Electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting
- Reading and interpreting electrical and pneumatic schematics
- Industrial networking and communication protocols
- Servo systems, VFDs, and industrial controls

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment
- Automotive or plastics manufacturing experience
- Industrial robotics integration experience
- Machine vision experience
- Industrial controls or electrical design experience
- Experience supporting new equipment launches and automation projects

- Ability to understand and communicate machine logic and automation sequences
- Proficient with industrial software and computer systems

Work Environment
This is a hands-on position supporting manufacturing operations in a fast-paced production environment. You'll work closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to maintain equipment reliability, support new equipment installations, and improve manufacturing processes.
