Job Description

The Automation Technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and setting up automated equipment and systems. This role works closely with production and maintenance teams to ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while supporting continuous improvement and new equipment implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and automated systems to resolve operational issues.
• Design and implement basic equipment modifications to address machine problems and improve performance.
• Dismantle, inspect, and overhaul equipment as required by preventive maintenance programs and production schedules.
• Document all repair, maintenance, and quality-check activities accurately.
• Participate in the design, installation, and implementation of new equipment.
• Set up and commission new equipment.
• Perform conversions on assembly, lining, and closing machines.
• Train employees and outside molders on equipment-related job duties and procedures.
• Perform daily system checks to verify that all required quality checks and systems are functioning properly.
• Build crates and prepare equipment for relocation when required.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work and storage areas.
• Continuously develop technical skills through seminars, supplier training, and other professional development opportunities.
• Stay current with existing and emerging automation technologies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, as demonstrated through applicable testing.
• Ability and willingness to develop advanced knowledge of:
• Ability to develop proficiency in machining and fabrication, including:
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings/prints and electrical schematics.
• Ability to work effectively with employees and associates at all levels of the organization.
• Completion of forklift/fork truck training and ability to operate forklifts safely.
