Job Brief Kable Workforce Solutions is hiring an Automation Technician for our client. This job is responsible for maintaining continuous system operation by adjusting, repairing, replacing or modifying system components on automated process equipment.
What’s a Typical Day Like?
· Perform machine changeovers from part-to-part and job-to-job.
· Clear machine jams and troubleshoot product issues involving metal and plastic components.
· Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic machine issues.
· Diagnose electrical issues involving sensors, relays, servo systems, motor controls, and PLCs.
· Adjust and troubleshoot bowl feeding systems, tracks, fixtures, and tooling.
· Adjust robot positions, coordinate types, jog functions, and troubleshoot robot errors.
· Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on machine systems and subsystems.
· Clean machines and make necessary equipment adjustments.
· Document changes made to machines, fixtures, and tooling.
· Maintain spare parts inventory and document equipment history.
· Communicate machine status, issues, and performance with production personnel and automation team members.
What Are the Requirements of the Job?
· Strong knowledge of 120VAC and 24VDC control circuits and 3-phase 480V industrial power.
· Knowledge of PLCs and VFD-controlled machinery.
· Proficiency in mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
· Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical diagrams, and complex automated system drawings.
· Proficiency using power tools and measuring equipment.
· Ability to maintain required hand and test tools for automated equipment.
· Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Windows-based systems.
· Ability to work overtime, including short notice and weekends when needed.
· Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
· Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
· Ability to distinguish between colors and varying shades of color.
· Industrial paint experience is a plus.
· Knowledge of ABB/SEW and Mitsubishi drive technology is a plus.
· Ability to follow required PPE and safety procedures when working around electrical hazards, pinch points, burners, paints, solvents, and natural gas.
· Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
· Ability to move or lift up to 50+ lbs.
· Ability to reach, grasp, hold, push, pull, bend, twist, squat, climb, kneel.
· Ability to utilize hand/eye coordination.
· Capability to stand for prolonged periods of time
· Communication skills.
