**Job Description:

**Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of the controls and automation equipment which includes troubleshooting, preforming program backups, and system upgrades. Direct involvement with cross-functional team that include safety, quality, engineering, and production. This position will provide technical guidance to other members of the maintenance team and other technical members of Silgan.

**Job Responsibilities:

**

  • Installation, start-up, and maintenance of high-volume automated production machinery.
  • Ability to understand, trouble shoot and correct automation issues with Programmable Logic Controllers and Peripheral Interface Devices.
  • Knowledge of PLC Programming and how it relates to the design and control of automated equipment.
  • Ability to perform changeovers on auxiliary equipment when needed.
  • Assists struggling co-workers, will fill in where needed without being asked.
  • Crossed trained in other multiple job functions, to help create bench strengths in other areas.
  • Displays personal accountability, recognizes problems, and responds accordingly.
  • Always goes above and beyond, stays above the line, and works as a lift for fellow co-workers.
  • Adhere to current and future company standards for conducting work and safety inspections of equipment.
  • Work safely and in a manner consistent with all OSHA and internal safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

**Education/ Previous Experience:

**

  • 3 years maintenance and/or automation work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with PLC’s & panel building
  • Experience with robotics and setting up/modifying programs
  • Experience with general electronics, mechanics, and pneumatics
  • Basic machine troubleshooting skills/ability to solve electrical and mechanical issues
  • Ability to troubleshoot and re-concept mechanisms
  • Positive attitude, strong/safe work ethic, and strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel.
  • Willingness to assist other cross-functional groups based on needs
  • Ability to work independently and be proactive
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and report data based on machine performance.
  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to learn, grow and adapt to changing business needs.

**Physical Requirements:

**

  • Frequently required to lift and or move weights up to 35 lbs.
  • Use of Personal protective equipment on the production floor (PPE)
  • Physical requirements include but not limited to sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, stooping, crouching, color determination and grasping.
