What You'll Do
As an Automation Controls Technician, you'll play a key role in the assembly, integration, testing, and optimization of custom automation systems.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Building and assembling complex automation equipment from engineering designs and technical drawings
- Collaborating with engineers and fellow technicians to transform concepts into fully operational systems
- Installing and integrating electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical components
- Wiring equipment, connecting controls, and supporting system functionality
- Testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and fine-tuning machinery to meet performance standards
- Reading and interpreting SolidWorks models, schematics, blueprints, and specifications
- Operating machine tools such as lathes, mills, and welding equipment to fabricate or modify components
- Verifying dimensions, tolerances, and overall product quality
- Working with automation components including sensors, VFDs, motors, and control devices
- Maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment while managing project priorities
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, machining, mechanical assembly, maintenance, or related technical environments
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience building, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
- Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and manufacturing equipment
- Familiarity with automation components such as sensors, drives, and motion-control systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field
- Experience with machining, fabrication, or welding
- Exposure to PLCs, robotics, automation controls, or industrial programming
- Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Practical hands-on experience through automotive work, farming, equipment repair, or personal mechanical projects
