Job Overview:

Automation Technician

Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with an automotive manufacturing organization, is seeking a skilled Automation Technician. This role is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing automated production equipment, modifying PLC-controlled systems, and performing preventive maintenance to support reliable high-volume manufacturing operations.

Job Duties

  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC, and control-system issues on automated production equipment
  • Diagnose and repair 480V and 110V electrical power and control wiring
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and modify PLC logic controlling automated equipment
  • Repair and maintain pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical power transmission, sensor, and control systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance on automated assembly and production systems
  • Read electrical and mechanical blueprints to diagnose equipment failures
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineers to implement equipment improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain required maintenance and process documentation in accordance with IATF 16949 standards

Skills & Experience

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience working with automated equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience
  • Hands-on PLC troubleshooting and PLC logic modification experience
  • Experience troubleshooting 480V and 110V electrical systems, controls, sensors, and machine wiring
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints
  • Experience diagnosing high-volume automated production equipment

Desired

  • Experience with automated assembly or automotive manufacturing equipment
  • Experience troubleshooting motors, drives, conveyors, sensors, and control panels
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices for automated production systems
  • Experience with mechanical power transmission systems
  • Familiarity with IATF 16949 process and maintenance documentation requirements
  • Experience supporting equipment modifications and continuous improvement projects
