Job Overview:

Summary: 

The Automation technician is responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of computer and robotic systems used in automation. They must be proficient in multiple skill clusters including electricity and electronics, fluid power, mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes. Automation technicians perform the administration, configuration, design, maintenance, programming, and qualification of various systems, while also troubleshooting any issues that might occur.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineering with the specification, installation, and modification of equipment and systems.
  • Undertake emergency troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment to determine problems associated with the machines.
  • Ensure the use of a digital dashboard for thorough analysis and fault reviews
  • Conduct investigations; recommend changes and upgrades to equipment
  • Upgrade hardware and software for improved process control
  • Communicate findings, upgrades, and troubleshooting to colleagues and management through the e-mail, texts, and voice calls.
  • Prepare periodic reports on the progress made concerning faulty machines, errors, and processes.
  • Ensure the calibration of all machines and maintenance after calibration.
  • Provide regular system operation training on automated systems.
  • Take care of installation, maintenance, and inspection of control systems and workstation installations at the facility.
  • Coordinate with other departments in order to achieve departmental goals.
  • Provide technical monitoring for other automation technicians and engineers both on-site and off-site.
  • Provide system operation training.
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications, Education and/or Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics technology, bioengineers, biological sciences or computer sciences or related field. 
  • 5 years’ experience in related filed. 

Language Skills: 

  • English required; Spanish is a plus.
  • Reasonable accommodations can be made, up to and including translation services.

 Physical Demands: 

  • Position requires walking, standing for prolonged periods, occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. May frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment: 

  • Non-temperature-controlled warehouse, non-temperature-controlled production floor, temperature-controlled office.
