Description
The Automation Engineering Technician I supports the automation engineering group in the fabrication of manual or automated machines and systems. Provides technical troubleshooting of machines and systems that have been deployed at internal or external customers. Possesses the desire and ability to pursue continued educational opportunities for certification and actively pursues new knowledge in modern technology.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs calibrations, adjustments, and some preventative maintenance tasks on previously deployed machines and systems.
- Performs troubleshooting, problem solving, root cause analysis, and repair activities on machines and systems.
- Participates in factory acceptance testing (FAT), instillation, and site acceptance testing(SAT) on machines and systems.
- Participates in the creation of work instructions, training documents, and other standards.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams and provides feedback for continuous improvement.
- Able to read and understanding drawings and basic wiring and pneumatic diagrams.
- Basic use of hand tools to assemble, adjust, and maintain machines and systems.
- Possess mechanical aptitude.
- Understands various sensor types and functions.
- Understands and observes all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate CB policies and procedures.
- Assists in maintaining clean, orderly and hazard-free work areas.
- Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and be detail oriented.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively via verbal and written forms.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Basic computer navigation skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must be able to perform duties from recall, written instructions, and visual aids.
- Ability to have uninterrupted engagement with duties for periods up to 4 hours.
- Ability to write and read English.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Required high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Preferred Assoiates degree or other technical degree or certificate.
- Minimum 2 years experience operating automated machines and systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The position requires frequent sitting and occasional bending, stooping, balancing, pushing, pulling, and reaching above shoulder level.
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs. can be expected. Occasional lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs. may be necessary.
- Frequently uses both hands for simple grasping and occasionally for fine dexterity.
