Automation Engineering Technician
Responsibilities
This position is with a leading Metals Manufacturing Company, employing industrial automation and methodology to improve effectiveness of manufacturing production and processes. As part of an Automation Team, this position will have an emphasis on mechanical design, fabrication, assembly, and installation. These automated systems include robotics, PLC controls, material handling, inspection and system monitoring.
Qualifications
- Technical/Engineering degree or proven industrial experience preferred.
- Previous experience in an Automation/Maintenance position in a Manufacturing environment is most desirable.
- Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in manufacturing and a strong mechanical or electromechanical knowledge with the ability to understand complex machinery.
- Strong organizational skills to accomplish multiple tasks with attention to detail and quality. Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings for system design.
- Knowledge of basic machining, hydraulic, and pneumatic concepts as well as familiarity with machining processes and techniques.
- CAD/Solidworks experience is a plus.
- Ability to understand PLC Ladder logic and Robot programming code or equivalent software will become necessary as familiarity and experience grows.
- At least 2 years of experience or any combination of education, training, and related work experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Essential Duties and Expectations
- Communicate clearly and accept direction within a team environment to design and develop automated systems and processes to improve production efficiency.
- Fabricate components and assemble systems as needed for automation projects.
- Conduct root cause analysis to troubleshoot and resolve issues in automated systems.
- Learning new technologies and creating schematics, technical drawings and operational procedures for systems will become necessary.
- Train operators and maintenance staff on automated systems.
- Provide technical support for CNC programming, tooling, fixtures, and robotic processes.
- Expected to complete assignments and meet required deadlines.
- Meet all Safety guidelines as instructed by the company and comply with all PPE standards.
- Requires overnight travel to satellite HyPro production facilities to install automated systems. (10%-30% annually dependent on the scope of project.)
