The Automation Engineer – PLC Specialist will design and install Allen Bradley PLC systems for automation processes within the aggregate crushing industry. Responsibilities include providing programming, installation, documentation, equipment inventory, training, and monitoring services in the automation function. Must work as a member of the Automation Team in addressing automation production needs.
Automation Engineer - PLC Specialist - What Will You Do?
- Design, build, install, and maintain Allen Bradley PLC control systems for plant automation processes.
- Research, install, and maintain sensors needed for Allen Bradley PLC automation systems.
- Assist when needed with electrical wiring, scales, pneumatic and hydraulic components as well as sensors relating to plant automation.
- Install and setup AC/DC drives within plants.
- Provide on-site training and support of appropriate personnel involved with Allen Bradley PLC systems.
- Troubleshooting and repair of component failure.
- Implementation of enhancements to improve efficiency of Allen Bradley PLC systems.
- Parts inventory for all Allen Bradley PLC systems.
- Maintain accurate documentation of Allen Bradley PLC systems.
- Assist Automation Department during project development and project support.
- Development of accurate cost/time estimates of Allen Bradley PLC systems for management purposes.
- Support the safety initiatives of NESL by adhering to safe work practices and identifying and reporting any safety risks to the Safety Committee.
- This position requires the ability to handle stress, interrelate positively both orally and in writing with others, the ability to attend work and be punctual as well as work overtime when required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and required.
Requirements - Who Are We Looking For?
- Engineering related degree, or relevant discipline, with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience, including, but not limited to the operation and maintenance of aggregate crushing. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Proven ability to build professional relationships and transfer knowledge with individuals across the organization and external networks.
- Demonstrated skills in solving complex and reoccurring problems.
- Ability to utilize and analyze data such as basic financials, P&L statements, investment evaluations, project plans and drawings, and KPIs.
- Ability to coach and motivate peers without direct lines of authority.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Tough minded with the courage of conviction to drive critical strategies and programs through to completion.
- Demonstrated success in fast-paced environments and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must possess strong attention to detail with advanced analytical skills to ensure accurate and thorough work products.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Six Sigma certification is preferred.
