Your Role at Delta Faucet

The Automation Engineer will support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of automation systems across manufacturing operations. This role works closely with the Lead Automation Engineer, Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and develop technical skills while contributing to reliable and efficient automated systems.

Responsibilities

Automation Support & Execution

  • Support the design, implementation, and improvement of automation systems across manufacturing operations.
  • Assist with PLC, HMI, robotics, vision systems, and industrial network programming.
  • Maintain accurate electrical schematics, network diagrams, and software backups.
  • Follow established automation standards, documentation, and change management practices.

System Design & Implementation

  • Develop PLC logic, HMI screens, safety circuits, and network configurations.
  • Support new equipment installations, upgrades, and retrofits.
  • Specify and install automation hardware such as PLCs, drives, sensors, and safety devices.
  • Participate in system commissioning, startup, and validation activities.

Troubleshooting & Reliability

  • Troubleshoot day-to-day automation and controls issues on production equipment.
  • Support root cause analysis for equipment failures related to controls, software, or networks.
  • Work with maintenance and operations to restore equipment safely and efficiently.

Project Management

  • Lead automation-focused capital projects from concept through handoff.
  • Develop project scopes, timelines, budgets, and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, operations, safety, IT, and vendors.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification.
  • Review and approve vendor designs, FAT/SAT documentation, and deliverables.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Identify opportunities for automation to improve efficiency, quality, and ergonomics.
  • Actively develop technical skills in automation technologies, standards, and best practices.
  • Support data collection and OEE improvements.
  • Work closely with maintenance to improve troubleshooting capability and ownership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.
  • Basic knowledge in PLC programming, HMIs, and industrial networking.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Experience using 3D modeling software.
  • Ability to lead projects and provide technical mentorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with robotics, vision systems, and data integration.
  • Rockwell Automation-Allen Bradley programming/product experience.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
