Description
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Automation Engineer / Specialist is responsible for assisting customer designated journeyman electrician with installation and then configuration/commissioning/start-up of Pump-off Controllers (POCs) and Variable Speed Drives (VSDs).
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Create Value by utilizing industry acceptable installation and configuration/commissioning/start-up processes, tools and best practices and assisting in their operation.
- Working knowledge of POC/VSD operating parameters, and ability to recommend changes to operating window to ensure rod lift system is operating optimally and within limits.
- Become part of the team and understand ongoing operations to enable optimal support.
- Identify, diagnose, and communicate event-based opportunities with business units.
- Develop recommendations to improve equipment run life and assist asset teams in implementation.
- Assist with specification and future operation.
- Assists with monitoring, trouble shooting and testing automation equipment to maximize well productivity and run life.
- Trains and coaches new hires in basic principles.
Requirements
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate/bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 10 years of oil oilfield or related industry experience.
- Minimum 5 to 10 years’ experience working with senior management to align sales strategies and solutions with the service and support of solutions.
- Must have a clear understanding of the challenges facing the industry at present and illustrate a knowledge of the operation, and any attention to detail that will be required to succeed within the industry.
- Requires a knowledge of the Oilfield industry in terms of customer base and needs.
- Self-motivated to achieve results with minimal direct supervision.
- Computer literate with intermediate knowledge of MS Office suite and ERP systems
- Have a demonstratable track record of commitment to safety.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, including sitting in a vehicle; a minimum of 2 hours and often up to 4 hours.
- Must be able to maneuver to all areas of a pump shop or warehouse, and to all allowable areas of a well site or other job sites.
- Must be able to work at a fast pace.
- Must be able to tolerate changing priorities, and complete assignments despite frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
- Must be able to drive a one-ton pick-up truck.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work environment is typically considered in an office environment located on-site, within a ELS location during normal or extended business hours. Work environment may also include employee’s residence, customer site & meeting venues, extensive time off site while traveling or to other location as required.
