Join PDS Tech Commercial and a collaborative engineering and manufacturing team that designs and builds custom automation equipment powering critical infrastructure. As an Automation Controls Technician, you’ll play a hands-on role in bringing innovative, high-tech systems to life—from robots and lasers to advanced material handling and automated packaging solutions. Your work will directly support smarter, more efficient production environments that keep industries running.
In this dynamic, build-focused role, you will:
Partner with engineers and technicians to interpret designs and transform concepts into fully functioning automation systems
Assemble, fit, and align mechanical components into complex machinery and equipment
Wire, plumb, and integrate systems using electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components
Test run equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform repairs or adjustments as needed
Study and interpret SolidWorks models, drawings, and specifications to guide builds
Organize materials, manage workflow for assigned projects, and maintain a clean work environment
Set up and operate machine tools (lathe, mill, welding equipment) to fabricate or modify parts
Verify dimensions, tolerances, and conformance to specifications
Work with sensors, VFDs, and other automation electronics to support system functionality
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in a mechanical, manufacturing, or machinist environment—or equivalent combination of education and hands-on training
Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in assembly, fabrication, troubleshooting, and repair
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Familiarity with basic automation components (sensors, drives, etc.)
Comfortable working hands-on with tools, equipment, and machinery
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related field
Experience with machining (lathe, milling) and welding equipment
Exposure to PLCs, robotics, or automation programming (training provided)
Background in electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems
Practical, real-world mechanical experience (automotive, farm, home projects, etc.)

Pay Details: $28.00 to $36.00 per hour
