Team Overview and Job Responsibilities

What you'll do:

Candidate will be an employee of the Automation group supporting the manufacturing of optical fiber. This individual will provide technical support in the area of PC and PLC based controls and automation for improvement projects and production support.

Principle Functional Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain PLC and HMI programs utilized by production and facilities to control manufacturing processes and support equipment. Provide controls and automation support for the manufacturing of optical fiber, including off-hours support on a rotating basis. Instruct, assist, and mentor individuals of the electrical team. Refine processes throughout facility pertaining to electrical safety as well as equipment efficiency. Inspect, repair, adjust, install, and maintain all electrical systems including calibration of electronic instrumentation systems. To modify, rebuild, repair, or overhaul electronic and electrical equipment and controls. Applies knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Support the commissioning of new equipment for production. Ensure proper backups of all programs and critical support files are maintained per plant standards. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or a member of management.

Who are we looking for?

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Engineering or Computer Science, or min. 5 years of field experience
  • Excellent planning, communication, and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented with proven analytical, problem identification and resolution skills
  • Ability to contribute to the team’s culture of continuous process changes/improvements
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Comply with all applicable safety procedures and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 HSE guidelines
  • Demonstrated capability of results through people, technology, and process

Preferred:

  • Experience in highly automated manufacturing process preferred
  • Experience with programming Rockwell (Allen-Bradley), Modicon, and/or Siemens PLC’s
  • Experience in PLC programming utilizing IEC programming languages including Ladder, Sequential function charts, Structured text, and Function Block Diagrams
  • Experience with Profibus, Ethernet and Modbus+ communication protocols
  • Experience in programming SCADA Software with PC to PLC transactions and PC to Database transactions
  • Experience in programming servo drives and motion controllers
