Job Overview:

In March 2022, Crane announced that it will separate into two independent, publicly traded companies in early 2023. This role is part of Crane Company, a leading global provider of mission-critical, highly engineered products and solutions, with differentiated technology, respected brands, and leadership positions in the Aerospace & Electronics and Process Flow Technologies markets.

The Audit Data Analytics Lead (remote or hybrid in Stamford, CT) will be responsible for leading the Audit Analytics Program which includes the continued improvement and development of analytics methodology, tools, and capabilities. The Audit Analytics Lead will drive efforts to support the Crane Co Internal Audit department to identify opportunities to perform value-added audit analytics that enable smarter auditing, enhance risk coverage, and introduce audit efficiencies. An opportunity for development outside of internal audit is possible within 1-2 years.

To drive efficiencies in performing audit analytics, the Audit Data Analytics Lead will utilize implemented connections with key reporting databases and work to add additional connections. Also, this position will work closely with Internal Audit leadership in supporting the development of the Annual Audit Plan and work with the company’s external auditors to ensure they have the data needed to perform certain testing and analytics.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Drive continuous improvements to further develop the Data Analytics Program, including:
    • Continue strengthening the integration of data analytics tools and results into the Internal Audit methodology
    • Maintain and build data connections to data sources (i.e. variety of reporting databases across Crane)
    • Improve existing and implement new algorithms and workflows in Data3Sixty (Python)
    • Existing data connections to various reporting databases across Crane
    • Working knowledge of Alteryx or similar analytic tools.
  • Work with audit teams and auditees to provide effective and timely analytics support per Audit Schedule, including:
    • Kicking off each project with the auditees, including pre-audit meeting(s)
    • Normalizing data obtained to perform analytics
    • Executing the analytics algorithms (may require adjustments depending on auditee)
    • Present the analytics results and potential next steps to audit teams
    • Support audit teams in discussing the analytics results with Business Units
  • Establish strong relationships and work closely with Business Units’ IT and Finance teams to ensure required data connections and queries are available and reliable; where data connection is not possible, work with the Business Unit to get usable end user reports / extracts
  • Support Internal Audit projects via data analytics and provide results to the audit teams, as needed
  • Support External Audit engagements by providing data needed to audit teams for required testing and analytics
  • Assist on special projects and other engagements, as assigned
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with Internal Audit team members and key Business Unit personnel
  • Travel is limited to none


  • 3-5 years of experience with data analytics – tactical implementation and execution
  • Good understanding of traditional audit approaches for both SOX and Financial engagements
  • Working proficiency in programming languages; strong familiarity with Python and Alteryx is a plus
  • Robotic process automation (RPA) knowledge is a plus.

  • B.A. / B.S. (Accounting, Engineering, Finance, Management Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, etc.)
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience with public accounting, consulting firm, or internal audit desirable
  • Experience in and/or strong familiarity with the Manufacturing industry desirable
  • CPA, MBA and / or equivalent accounting qualification desirable
  • US Citizen or Green Card Required due to government contracts
